October 6, 2023 – White Plains, NY – Westchester County has launched Connect Westchester, a transformative digital literacy and access initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide. This groundbreaking program will provide essential digital resources, education, and affordable internet access to individuals through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).

Connect Westchester is a collaborative effort between Westchester County, the STEM Alliance, the Westchester County Association (WCA), and the Westchester Library System. Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins introduced the program during a press conference, highlighting the urgency of addressing digital connectivity in Westchester for the 75,000 households without internet access in the home. Funding for the program has been generously provided by the County Board of Legislators.

Chris Fisher, a Partner at Cuddy & Feder LLP and Vice-Chair of the Westchester County Association attended the County’s launch and was thanked for his contributions. Chris played a pivotal role in securing and developing the Y-Zone pilot program which laid the foundation for Connect Westchester. Fisher stated, “I am thrilled to be part of Connect Westchester, a program that recognizes digital connectivity as the means to empower individuals and our economy.”

Connect Westchester is the largest county-wide program of its kind in New York State, demonstrating Westchester County’s commitment to digital equity and ensuring every resident has the opportunity to succeed in the digital age.
