Cuddy & Feder Land Use Attorney Anthony B. Gioffre III successfully secured the approvals necessary for the redevelopment of 438 Main Street in New Rochelle, transforming a long-vacant property into much-needed affordable senior housing and a new worship space for The New Union Church of New Rochelle.
The project, led by 438 Main Street LLC, a partnership between the St. Katherine Group and Kings Capital Group, will revitalize the former Union Baptist Church site that has remained vacant since a fire in 2011. The approved plan includes a six-story, L-shaped building with 115 independent living units for seniors, two ground floor retail spaces, a community room, and 80 parking spaces.
A key component of the development is the construction of a new 150-seat glass enclosed church and event space that will be separately owned and operated as part of a condominium structure. The Westchester County Board of Legislators recently advanced the project by allocating $4.5 million toward the acquisition of the site, supporting the County’s broader efforts to expand affordable housing options for older residents.
